Through efforts and hard work, the Department of Energy and Environment System Engineering (DEESE) in Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST) has cultivated a solidary academic team with optimal structure, teamwork and innovation spirit. At present DEESE has a staff of 10, including 4 professors (40%), 2 associate professors (20%) and 4 lecturers (40%). All the staff members are awarded with PhD (100%) and 8 have oversea education background (80%). Among them, 3 staffs are honored as “Zhejiang Provincial Middle-aged and Young Talents Subject Leaders”, 5 are “Zhejiang Provincial New century 151 Talents”, and 4 are rated as youth elites of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (only 28 in the whole ZUST). In terms of under-graduate cultivation, DEESE has developed professional trainings in the direction of Energy Equipment Automatic Control, Science and Technology of Energy Conservation and Environmental Protecting Equipment, etc. Through years of construction and reorganizing superior educational resources, experiment platforms sponsored by local financial fund and ZUST have been built, including ‘Combustion stability and pollution control technology’, ‘Heat transfer enhancement by a pulsation flow’, ‘Assembly and test system of fuel cell stack’. Meanwhile, many devices have been introduced and used for the study of three-dimensional velocity detection, elemental analysis, flue gas composition analysis, dynamic characteristics of combustion, fan performance curve, heat flux density, programmable controller, scientific computing, heat transfer enhancement in micro-nano channel, preparation and characterization of solar cell, unconventional energy technology, atmospheric PM2.5 dispersion mechanism, CO2 recirculation combustion technology, etc. All the platforms and devices can provide a favorable research condition for research and cultivation of high-level talents. Through continuous efforts in several years, we have won the first prize of “Zhejiang Science and Technology Achievements”, and presided 14 state natural science funds, 30 provincial & ministerial founds, and several research projects authorized by enterprises of energy equipment and environmental technology. About 300 research papers have been published in SCI/EI journals, and the annual research funding reaches 2 million Yuan.
